The ONLY reason I continue to go here is because of Karen (owner) and my doctor - Liang. Love them both. And Paula and Barb, the nurses are great. Everyone else I have no use for. MYRNA IS THE WORST! A real ditz who I hang up on if I call there and she answers the phone. Hate to be rude but my blood pressure needs no help in rising.
If you go, ask for Dr. Liang or Portmore or Bowles. The others are not up to par.
I'm going to have to agree with the rest of the yelpers that this place is HORRIBLE! Every time I go, I see a different doctor. Each one is just as incomptent as the next. They have very little expertise in anything. They bring out their medical definition books to you and read from the book, to let you know what they think is wrong and how it should be treated. The reception staff and the nurses are idiots!!! Very rude!! Also annoying is that if you book an appt for 10, you dont get seen until 11 generally. About every time I've gone, I've had to wait at least 45min to be seen. Totally ridiculous! Don't go here! .. Unless you need a Saturday appt., which is the only time I come to this place.
I am very surprised to see these negative yelpings. I've started my first job in San Carlos in June 2005, and I've been to this medical center ever since. I switched from Dr. Kumar to Dr. Liang over the the course of the past 2 years because Dr. Liang's schedule works better with mine. With that said, I found both doctors to be very courteous and helpful.
However, the weekend doctors are sub-par. If you want a weekend doctor, I would avoid this medical facility. However, if you can afford to take one hour off work to see a full-time doctor at this center, then I would recommend it.
One thing I do find frustrating is that when my refills are out, it takes the doctor about a week to tell the pharmacy that it is okay to refill the prescription. Other medical offices take only a few hours to get back to the pharmacy. This point has always been a sour point with this medical center.
I've been going here for years and have a great doctor (Dr. Portmore). Granted, it took a year of trying other docs there to find this one, but now I'm set. I can call and get help right away, and consider it one stop shopping. Her nurse is awesome, too!
They've moved in to a new location next door and it's beautiful.
I will say, however, that if I have an urgent medical condition I will only go to the ER. I've never been a fan/believer in these "urgent care" facilities and stay away for the heavy-hitter stuff.

I repeat--don't go here. Everytime I go I get a different doctor and they love to tell you that you have allergies, no matter what is wrong with you. But even more annoying is the office staff that are consistantly rude and quite incompetent. I could give you the long, sad stories of my experiences with them, but let's just say, I'm finding another doctor. Even my pharmacist said that she finds them difficult to work with.

The doctor was too laid back to reassure me of his expertise or my injury. He didn't even bother to properly swab multiple sites of infection even though they occurred in two diffierent areas in the same park on the same day. Plus, a nurse accidentally walked into the wrong room asking me if I needed lipitor or botox. Of course, I freaked out because I can't stand needle poke-a-thons especially when I don't need them. The reception people also don't call you back to inform you of test results. Moreover, the doctor just wants money and asks you to come in to talk to him more when you've stated you have minimal health insurance. To make matters worse, they encourage you to file a claim instead of paying up front so you can't utilize the at-the-time discount. They also don't inform you of any fees upfront until after you receive the bill.
These people don't know how to care for people even though they are in the healthcare business. When you try to follow up with the doctor, the nurses and receptionists are extremely rude. This group exemplifies poor customer service. I will never go back here ever again nor would I recommend anyone to come here. These people give doctors a bad name.

Went here recently to get the necessary medical examination for an INS change of status (green card) application.
I found the receptionists to be very friendly, helpful, and efficient. I wasn't kept waiting for very long at all, saw a nurse very quickly who went through all of my immunizations. Was seen by Dr. Johnson, and he was friendly and efficient.
I found that they were generally detailed and specific about how much everything would cost before performing immunizations and tests.
My first experience with health care since I moved to the US two years ago, and all-in-all, I was very pleased with it.

I wish I had read the reviews on yelp before making an appointment here. I called up to make an appointment with a specific female doctor and when I arrived they told me I would be seeing a male doctor. Since it was for a cold, I figured this wasn't that big of a deal. The doctor rushed through the appointment and didn't seem to care about my illness at all. When I told him about a stomach pain I've been having he said it's probably just food allergies. I asked a few more questions about this, and he said "I don't have the time to explain this to you now. Look food allergies up on the Internet." Meanwhile, the person working in the labs department looked at the labs sheet the doctor filled out and didn't understand the tests he ordered. She said out loud "what is this doctor an idiot?" Then also loudly announced what my test was (which was a personal test that I didn't need the world hearing about). There was no one around in the labs area at that time, but anyone could have walked in and I felt it was inappropriate for them to announce this personal information so loudly. I'm still sick, even though I've been following the doctor's advice to take over the counter allergy meds. In fact, my illness has gotten worse. I'm going elsewhere for a second opinion. I would not return to Mariner Medical Center.

I met a hot Viet chick in the waiting room. I also met Sudeep in the waiting room. Was total suck that I got stuck in the stairs. Yeah, the exit leads to a locked staircase, so when you are in the stairs, you're stuck (unless you have a key). The Viet chick was there for her BF, but was chatting w me while he was being seen. Very pretty long, black hair. I love that. The doctor was very professional. Somewhat austere, but not an idiot, like the last 3 doctors I've seen; actually reasonably intelligent. That Viet chick though...
I had to go there for my greencard medical. I was told I would have the HIV results in 2 days and it took more than a week. I called every day and finally had to go by in person to get my results. Stay away!
