Crooks. They charged my credit card FOUR times for the same meal with different prices all 4 times on 2 different dates; I may be able to accept a potential screw up in entering the charges by accident - but double charges on 2 different dates?? The burgers were lame, very salty, and the wait service was slow. the staff or management are obviously crooks. Don't eat here.

I've always liked this place - maybe it's the bottomless fries? Probably. I have evolved from only ordering their hamburgers to branching out and trying some of their chicken sandwiches. The branching out stopped when I got hooked on their Whiskey River chicken wrap - YUMMY. Nothing else on the menu for me for months after I tried my first wrap. But yesterday I took my oh-so-evolved self and ordered their apple chicken salad- which was quite the taste treat! I'm trying to figure how I can justify going back again today for another it was that good. Red Robin is always a good standby restaurant for me - it's got something for everyone- even finicky eaters (which I definitely am not!).
My family and I enjoy coming here. It's got some solid burgers. The price adds up quickly, but I do like the crispy chicken burger. It's a solid basic hamburger joint that everyone can enjoy. The fries are super hot and good with the RB seasoning.
It was Sunday night and was a little slow. Saw one of the waiters throwing coasters like they were frisbees at other workers. Probably shouldn't be doing that.
I think they're a bit on the pricey side relative to the taste and quality of the food. Burgers are really just OK, supposedly burgers are their specialty.
Staff was friendly and service was good, so they get 2/5.
Decent quality, good service. Nice enough atmosphere for a chain restaurant. The birthday singalongs can get loud but are generally fun.
Red Robin's has a pretty good burger. I especially like their Bonzai Burger and their honey mustard dressing on their side dinner salad. Fries are okay. They make pretty good drinks. Can be very busy at meal times, and they don't take reservations. Parking is really easy. Prices are resonable. Customer service is fair. When your in a rush...ask them to "put it on the fly"
UPDATE: I haven't been to Red Robins in a little while, so I thought I would order a Bonzai Burger, medium-well, and much to my surprise the waiter advised they dont do medium-well, they only do medium or well, so basically my choice was either pink or burned......totally sucky!!!! What hamburger place would refuse to cook a medium-well burger, none that I know of...until now!!!!!! Down to two stars for Red Robin's!!!!
What's the matter? You couldn't get a table at BJ's? Red Robin works. You won't have to move your car. That's about the only reason to go here.
Watch your step in the bar, lots of rugrats in there during the lunch rush.

We usually go here because BJs is too busy which is probably because the food and the staff are simply better at BJs and despite being fairly large always has waiting times of 20 minutes or more just for a table for 2! So Red Robin is always our backup plan.
The staff are OK and the food is what you would expect from such a restaurant, greasy but fairly good. We've never had to wait for a table and I don't mind the price just for that reason.
If you're looking to sit down for a quick bite and BJs is busy you can't really go wrong here, just don't expect healthy stylish food!
guess who called me this morning to apolgize? bwahahahahahahahahaha, wait ,wait hold on, did you say meet you for coffee tonight? bwahahahahahahahahahaha. click.

Exactly what you'd think it would be like. Franchise diner. When I went here for a girls' lunch, I didn't want to kill myself with one of their big burgers, so I had a large tortilla soup. Which was really good, but left me hungry.
With the unhealthiness of the food here though, that was probably a good thing.
I don't know.. i seem to like it here. The times i have come here for lunch with co workers, i have never been disappointed. We always go right before the lunch rush, which would be before 12pm. Servers are cool and even got extra fries a few tiimes. I usually get a burger and i also tried some wrap and it was good. They charge us for a different drink one time that we caught, but ill let it slide.. but i gotta keep track of this now every time i go to eat now.
Well, the burgers here are better than McDonald's, so I don't know why some people think it's Mickey D quality. Service was pretty good. And they serve alcohol too...w00t!

Came here for a company luncheon.
Since I wasn't in a mood for a regular burger, I opted for a Fish burger, due to budget constraints.
The fish came a little over-fried, but the bun was soft and the tartar sauce and cabbage inside the burger was plentiful.
The burger came with unlimited steak fries, which were satisfactory as well.
Service: Ashley, our waitress was high quality. She introduced herself at the beginning, checked in with us throughout the meal as well! Thanks Ashley! :D

I love Red Robin, they pretty much have any combination of burger you can think of. Want a fried egg on your burger? They've got it! They also have a full bar with freckled lemonades which are super refreshing. I think my favorite has to be the endless basket of fries though. Their steak fries are AWESOME and they have this great seasoning that they keep at the table so you can always add more. Basically, even though it's a chain, RR is the bomb.com
Standard Chain Restaurant. Nothing special. However if you do go try the Bonzi Burger it's goooooood! If all else fails Red Robin is a decent fall back eatry.
Food you expect from a chain that advertises family-oriented food gatherings.
Sometimes they have something that is so awesome you can't help but love it--and sometimes they have stuff that makes you want to put it back on your plate...regurgitated.
I thought about whether or not I would be a little biased if I was un-sober during this particular visit and then writing about it, but then I remembered that it is NOT the first time I've eaten here. It is also NOT the first time that my Dad has told me to put away my cell phone EVEN THOUGH I PAY FOR IT AND I WAS TEXTING DARIN I. AND THATS PRETTY FUCKING IMPORTANT IF YOU ASK ME SO SCREW YOU I'M GOING TO THE BATHROOM TO FINISH UP THIS CONVERSATION AND STUMBLE/SLIDE ACROSS THE WALLS TO GET WHEREVER I'M GOING.
*whew*. Ok. I already ate before I came here. Bad idea, kinda. Not worse than being drunk and trying to play it off in front of your grandparents.
I had the spinach and artichoke dip, and they put ONIONS ON TOP. Who does that? Seriously. I'm not joking. WHO DOES THAT. Apparently everyone else was impressed with their meals (milkshakes, bbq chicken wrap, ceaser chicken wrap, steak sliders, etc). The total for the meal was pretty minimum compared to the amount of food/people at the table, so two thumbs up for that.
As we got the check, my mom thanked the server and said "You did a really great job, seriously!" Were you drunk too, Mom? HE'S A GROWN MAN. Kinda. Ya know, one of those mid-20' s-still-trying-to-find-out-what-to-do-i n-life and you know what its FINE to do that, but just leave a great big tip and leave because its obvious he was rushing/uncomfortable with such bluntness.
And I forgot to leave a "You've just been Yelped!" card. FUCK.

So, I figured we'd go to Red Robins in San Mateo since I was craving for the tender, juicy Ensenada Chicken Platter I had at the Red Robin's in Modesto, right?
Uh, I was very disappointed when I finally got my order. Two of the chicken filets were soooooooooo overcooked and dry. The meat was tough.
I don't know if it was a bad night and the cooks are supposed to pay attention to the temperature and time to cook their orders. Cook station managers, PLEASE SUPERVISE!

05/2008: Jr and I decided to give Red Robin another chance.... what a disaster.... after getting seated, our ADD waiter literally forgot about us... 30 minutes later after ordering and not even getting the appetizers complained to another waiter. After another ten minutes...we walked after complaining to one of the hosts. We walked to Mimis and had a very good meal and excellent service. on the way back to our vehicle, we ran into the waiter that attempted to light a fire under our first waiter arse unsuccessfully.... He told us that the service was usually bad and even he wouldn't eat here off duty.
Last week, my son, Jr, suggested we go to the Red Robin in San Mateo, Bridgepoint Shopping Center. Jr was raving about their new Prime Rib Sandwich. I called my friend, Sporty Bob, and we met at Red Robbin around 8PM.
We were seated rapidly. Our waiter was a young man in his 20s sporting light facial hair, standing about 6 feet. The restaurant was about 60% capacity and throughout the time we were there, groups of servers would move around singing happy birthday to the patrons.
I specified a Dijon mustard with my Prime Rib Sandwich and Garlic French Fries. That's the last we saw of our waiter until just before we were finished.
15 minutes after ordering, another waiter appeared with our order... when I realized no mustard, had to chase him down and ask. Prime Rib Sandwiches (we all had one) were delicious and I give it 4 stars. the French Fries were tasty but overly greasy... 3 stars. The service was disjointed and I'm sure the amount of birthdays had something to do with it.
FINALLY, our original waiter came over to see how things were going and I remarked, it would be nice to get some napkins (we were given none) and cutlery.
As we paid and were starting out the door, the restaurant was still about 25% capacity and Sporty Bob pointed out a male server playing 'Grab Ass' with one of the female servers over on the north side of the main room. Fun to do but under the circumstances, a little UN-professional since there were enough patrons present, and in this day of sexual harassment... risky business.
All in all, I'm ready to return because the food has always been a B PLUS and I'm still thinking of that Prime Rib Sandwich.
I know the restaurant business can be a team effort, but I prefer dealing with one server and not multiples which leads to communication problems ala the aforementioned mustard for my french fries and sandwich.
Not particularly vegetarian friendly, but great if you want a nice greasy meal. I had the garden burger, which was plain mediocre. Not the greatest, but certainly not anything to cry about. It looks like you can sub a boca (non-meat) option for any of their regular burgers. Perhaps I'll try that if I come back (only if I was meeting friends here, I don't think I'd pick this place as my first or truthfully even tenth choice for a meal).
It's Red Robin. Don't expect gourmet cuisine. Don't expect a McDonald's Dollar Menu tab. It's Red Robin.
What they do, they do pretty well.
Have a burger, quit complaining.
It's Red Robin.

Yes, Red Robin is a chain but it always does me good when I'm in a mood for a very casual and laid back meal. They have so many burger and sandwich options, lots of creative alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and being a mega french fry fan, bottomless steak fries always scores extra points for me.
Their new bruschetta chicken burger on ciabatta ($9.99) definitely hit the spot with lots of pesto aioli sauce and a huge mound of salsa inside too. The ciabatta bread was decent but I prefer lightly fluffier ciabatta (like what you get at Jack in the Box). And with this they serve garlic steak fries - if you love garlic, these fries can scare away a vampire and you'll like them.
The 5-alarm burger was pretty tasty with jalapenos and salsa, but was more like a 3.5 alarm burger.
The fat bottomless steak fries were as good as usual - try dipping them in ranch dressing - most excellent.
The young servers are pretty nice and they went around singing fun happy bday songs to a couple of tables.
Bottom line: For what they are, always hits the spot for me. Bottomless fries, bottomless fries.

this guy who i'm so fond of is a sucker!....
because, after seeing the RR's bacon cheeseburger commercial on tv, he called me up and asked where was the nearest RR around the peninsula so WE could have that "delicious, appetizing, juicy, huge bacon cheeseburger."
last week was that "most awaited" day in his burger eating life.
once we entered this place, we were greeted with a scent of dirty carpet and a young, fresh-faced, friendly hostess.
he was elated when he saw that deceiving picture of the cheeseburger on the menu. "that's the one i was talking about", he said excitedly. "ok", i said insensibly.
i just ordered their asian chicken salad. the chicken teriyaki, was basically "boiled chicken with a drip of teri sauce" and the salad greens were obviously been in the refrigerator for a long time. to complete this meal, it has the ordinary sweet-sesame asian dressing, topped with crispy noodles and almonds.
this is definitely a salad plate that you don't want to order, though tolerable...but still, i recommend that you don't order this.
the RR bacon cheeseburger, seen on TV....was surely a gypped!
it was all eaten alright, but what you see (on tv and on the menu) is NOT what you get!!
a little bit bigger than an in-n-out burger and has a mickey d's quality!
those two faded out yellow colored stars are only meant for the all-you- can eat steak fries that goes with the burger(s) and it was amazingly tasty and pleasantly deep-fried AND for their very own RR's seasoning powder which are all available on the tables.
so, he was kind of "moded" and sworn that he will not eat here again..and so am i.
i think this is a stage two dining place for middle-schoolers to take their dates with their hard-saved allowance.

If you have seen the Carl's Jr commercials asking why you would eat elsewhere and pay $6 for a gourmet burger when you can get the Six Dollar burger, you would realize that overpriced, overrated burger is a shot from Red Robin's. Red Robin actually charges $10 so I guess Carl was being nice.
They do give you bottomless fries (all you can eat potato wedges) to fill you up which taste pretty good with the seasoning salt. All in all, the food is just not good enough for the price considering you the choices are either burgers or fried food.
BTW, Carl's Jr has a coupon where you can buy 2 Six Dollar burgers for price of one for the whole year. Red Robin will definitely be seeing red.

Having a kid, there are places that are kid friendly that the kids love going to and there are places that the parents don't mind going. It can be a challenge to find a place that both like (or at least the adults don't want to run away from screaming). For us, Red Robin is this place. Overall, the food here is usually decent and the service is also normally decent. Best of all, they have one of my guilty pleasures on the menu; a burger with a fried egg on it.
One thing to note: Avoid it at all costs if their "mascot is visiting the restaurant" that day. Trust me, it's not fun. You have been warned.
It was my son's turn to pick where to go since it was his birthday lunch, and he picked Red Robin. There were gobs of people outside and I thought for sure we were going to end up waiting for a table. However, I was pleasantly surprised there was a booth for us without any wait.
Our server wasn't the brightest crayon in the box, but he was actually trying. My wife ordered hot tea to drink and asked for cream. We asked the waiter for it, he totally forgot and eventually came back to check on us. We asked again, and he brought it, but to the wrong table. He came back again (he was really trying and checked on us a few times) and he couldn't remember where he left the cream. It actually started to become an amusing little dance. Finally he got it to our table on a large plate (along with a little piece of lettuce that clearly fell off something else).
The food was pretty good, we ordered the spinach and artichoke dip which was better than we expected. For the main entree we split something we hadn't seen before. It wasn't on the menu, but on the little cardboard thing on the table. I believe they were called "steak sliders" and had crispy little onions on them, came three on a skewer and it was pretty good. My son was also thrilled at all the noise they made when they sang him happy birthday.
Being stranded in suburbia, there are worse places to eat. If you've got kids and need a place everyone won't mind, this is the place. Definitely a 3 star joint.
Great place to go for a post-game burger-and-beer after playing hockey at the adjacent rink.
Unfortunately, were it not for the proximity to the rink, I probably could not justify paying $20 for a burger and a beer. As for why I do it now, chalk it up to the hockey-glove stench on my hands after a game making me crazy.
The food isn't bad, but isn't to die for; the beer may be on tap, but it's still cheaper to stock up your fridge at BevMo or what have you, and just drink to your heart's content when you get home.
Ok, to be fair, the real reason to go is if you're in a large enough group (four or more) where you can just sit around and talk smack for an hour or so over decent food and a beer or two. You go there for the atmosphere, not to get decent bang-for-your-buck on food.
Just don't order the Asian Chicken Salad. And don't forget your ID if you're under 40 years old and want a beer.

My roomie loves Red Robin, which is why I keep ending up there. I can't talk her into Japanese food every night, so we end up here now and then, especially if she's paying.
Red Robin is nothing other than your typical "family" chain restaurant. They specialize in burgers, which aren't really that bad, but they're nothing to write home about. The Bonzai Burger and Guacamole Bacon Burger aren't all that bad, but I dread to think how fattening they are, so I don't eat them all that often.
Everything you order comes with steak fries, and the quality is spotty, sometimes they're too well cooked, sometimes they're mushy. Again, nothing I'd rant and rave about.
Service is spotty, but it's what you expect from a chain restaurant like this. Tonight the server was attentive, friendly, and pretty cute to boot, but we've had servers that don't seem to care, and can't even get the order right. Though I've been here a lot and I've only had two bad experiences.
The biggest downside, other than the mediocre food and spotty services is how LOUD it is here! The ceilings are high, and eventually it just turns into everyone trying to talk over one another.
I probably would have given the restaurant four stars if they still had the Sonoma Turkey Burger, which was a well seasoned patty of ground turkey with feta cheese and pickled onions. I LOVED that, it was a great alternative to the greasy burgers, but it's gone now and I don't know if it's coming back.
Red Robin's saving grace, to me, is the BLTA, which is consistently good, and surprisingly the side of cantaloupe is always fresh.
In the end, it's a chain restaurant with decent burgers, no where I would choose to go to.
It's not like me to review a chain. It's unfortunate that Red Robbin is getting only so so reviews from fellow yelpers. But as a vegetarian who misses burgers, I love this place. The Whiskey River BBQ burger w/ Boca patty is to die for. If you can go with a friend or two, split a Chocolate milk shake - you won't regret it!

Let's be honest, Red Robin sucks. I used to like it, in fact as a kid the location in Costa Mesa, CA was my favorite restaurant.
Nowadays I show up at the Foster City location only when the line at BJ's is too long and I expect 1/4 of their business comes from turned away BJ's customers.
The best thing to get here is the Five Alarm Thousand Island Bomb, whoops I mean Burger. Carl Karcher would be proud because this burger definately follows the, "If it doesn't get all over the place, it doesn't belong in your face!" motto that CJ swears by. It's not that spicy, but it's edible.
The cajun seasoning on every table is like a gift sent down by god and baby Jesus to make Red Robin's steak fries edible.
Here are some great stories from this location (some are from friends):
The entire back of the restaurant has a booth back which runs along the back wall. Since the decor and cartoon mascot appeal to kids, you will find people's wild and uncontrolled brats running along this wall. My buddy saw one of them face plant into a table. LOL...
I went with a group from work and we sat at the bar and ordered drinks. One of their drinks is pink with an umbrella and that dude earned the nickname PINK LADY and it has stuck with him to this day.
So as you can see, although Red Robin may not have the best food, it is a decent place to go when the line at BJ's is too long. Thank you!

Food 4, Service 3.5, Ambiance 2.
So why the 4-stars? STRAWBERRY MILKSHAKE!!! I *heart* them.
Red Robin was my saving grace while consulting in Cali. They had good food, cheap food (considering what they were paying me) and most of all, it was comforting. Whether onion rings, or salads, I'd always get the milkshake.
The burgers are by far the best. Filling in every way with loads of fries that were crisp and delicious. Sadly though, the ambiance can kill a meal if at a bad time. This place has TONS of screaming kids and lots of people who celebrate their birthday's here.... WHY, why oh why do you come to a restaurant to celebrate your birthday and have them bring you cake??? I can understand Chicky cheese, when your a kid or McDonald's but Red Robin?
On zany days, or even ok days, this place was my "Cheers" and for that, I give them the extra star. The food isn't sensational and the service is eh ok, but those Milkshakes and onion rings, ROCK!

I used to drink the best Long Island Iced Teas at RR and have many good memories of this place. Best thing there are the hamburgers and fries (I'm *seriously* in to a good burger!). love this place, 5 alarm burgers rule, milkshakes rule. 1 star down because you cant really watch tv in the bar area, not even allowed to have the volume on, so that sux.
What can I say? It's Red Robin, nothing spectacular, but decent burgers and fries. Actually the fries can be pretty good depending on the amount of time that they've spent under the heat lamp. My co-workers and I love the freckled lemonade, but it's like $4 so if you get it make sure you're thirsty and get lots of refills to get your money's worth. My fave burger is the A1 peppercorn burger or the blue ribbon burger. I've also had the bruchetta chicken sandwich, whiskey river BBQ chicken wrap, fajita fiesta pollo salad and the mac and cheese with chicken. The only one out of these that I would not order again is the mac and cheese. It's really expensive ($11), doesn't have enough cheese sauce and is loaded with bread crumbs. Good for lunch with a group.

In the spirit of trying something new and being able to review a new place on Yelp, I came here for dinner the other night with my sister. I had no idea it was a burger joint. I really like their gardenburger. Big n hearty. The fries are the best part, especially with that special seasoning you put on yourself. And theres free fries refills. Huh? No way! Yes, this is true. I like the salad too, cant remember what its called, with the cheese and taco strips and stuff. Very fresh. Their mixed drinks, i usually get the Sandybottom, are ridiculously large and probably have enough Red #40 in them to give you an instant tumor, but really are delicious and pack a decent punch. Its in a plaza too so you can get drunk and then shop it off at target. Love it. Im a fan.

So, maybe the burgers are $8.50 but the fries are bottomless as are the soda refills. I have yet to find a place where the fish and chips are close to being as good as they are at Red Robins! I'm not a drinker, but they have an interesting array of alcoholic beverages.
